Anise Key Brown brings more than 20 years of professional experience in
human development, transformation and community empowerment. She possesses
a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and has received two Master Degrees;
one from the State University of New York at Albany and the other from
Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She has pursued post-graduate studies
at Howard University in Washington, D.C. and has obtained certifications
in Management from the American Management Association. She has also studied
at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She
is a certified ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) instructor
and an Adult Literacy Tutor.She has received certification as a Life Coach
from the Empowerment Institute in Rhinebeck, New York.
Mrs. Brown has worked for the Los Angeles Department of Human Services
and tenured as an Assistant Professor for a private University in North
Carolina. Her most recent experiences include program development work
for an international women’s organization in Washington, D.C. where
she lobbied on Capitol Hill for issues related to the well-being and empowerment
of women from a global perspective. She is the founder of ANISE, Inc. (Anise
Newton Institute for Self Empowerment) which is an organization designed
to help women realize their full potential in life. She currently serves
as the Director of a local government agency in Silver Spring, Maryland.
As a civic activist, Mrs. Brown has held memberships and leadership positions
in a number of organizations including the local chapter of the NAACP,
the League of Women Voters, the National Political Congress of Black Women,
the National Association of Female Executives and Women in Public Policy
among others.
Considering herself to be a world traveler, Mrs. Brown’s most recent
ventures include an excursion to the People’s Republic of China and
a journey to the country of South Africa. Mrs. Brown currently resides
in the suburbs of Maryland with her husband of 25 years, who is a local
attorney. She is also the mother of two college aged sons.
